Gauge swatch
Ch 16, work 10 rows.
Instructions
Foundation
Ch (sts + 1) (example: 32). Row 1: Sc (UK dc) in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across (31).
Puffs
Puff: (Yo, insert hook in st, pull up a loop) 3 times, yo, pull through all 7 loops, ch 1 to close.
Row 2 (RS): Ch 2, turn. Puff in first st, *ch 1, sk (UK miss) next st, puff in next st; rep from * to end.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each puff and each ch-1 sp across (31).
Repeat rows 2–3 until 12 in, ending with row 3.
Border
Sc around, 3 sc in each corner. Join and fasten off.
Finishing
- Weave in ends very securely; chenille-style yarn can work loose.
- No buttons or trims for a baby item.
Designer’s notes
- Pull up each puff loop to the same height for even puffs.
- Make it a baby blanket: 30 × 2.5 = 75 sts (odd), 88 rows.
