How do I convert a crochet pattern from US to UK terms?
Every stitch taller than a slip stitch moves up one name: US single crochet (sc) becomes UK double crochet (dc), US double (dc) becomes UK treble (tr), and so on. Skip becomes miss and gauge becomes tension. Paste the pattern above and the converter does it in one go, without renaming a stitch twice.
How can I tell if a pattern uses US or UK terms?
Look for single crochet (sc): it only exists in US terms. Half treble (htr) and “miss” mean UK terms. The converter makes a guess from your text and sets the direction for you.
Does converting change the stitch counts?
No. Only the names change; the stitches, counts and hook are exactly the same. Always read through the result, especially special stitches the designer defines in their notes.
