Row by row
Row 1 is the bottom-right corner tile. Odd rows are listed from the lower-left end of the diagonal, even rows from the upper-right end, because each row starts where the last one finished. If you start from another corner, the graph is simply mirrored.

How to plan a C2C blanket
- Swatch 5 × 5 tiles and measure the tile size. Tension matters more in C2C than in most stitches.
- Enter your blanket size. The planner rounds to whole tiles and shows the finished size.
- Choose colours and a layout: diagonal stripes suit C2C beautifully, as each row is one diagonal. Tap tiles to paint your own design.
- Print the graph and row list. Tick off each row as you finish it, and change colour where the list tells you.
Tips
- Use bobbins or small yarn butterflies for each colour section, instead of carrying yarn across the back.
- Mark the widest row. Once you reach the width (or length), one edge starts decreasing; missing the switch skews the blanket.
- Diagonal stripes need no graph at all: change colour at the start of a row and each stripe runs corner to corner.
Common questions
How many C2C tiles do I need for a blanket?
Divide the width by your tile size for the tiles across, and the length for the tiles up. With worsted yarn, a tile is about 0.8 in, so a 50 × 60 in throw is 63 × 75 = 4,725 tiles, worked in 137 diagonal rows.
How much yarn for a C2C blanket?
C2C is a dense stitch. A throw-size C2C blanket in worsted takes about 3,650 yards before extra. With a graph, each colour gets its share by its number of tiles; the planner counts them for you.
How do I read a C2C graph?
Each square on the graph is one tile. Start in a corner (usually bottom right) with one tile, and work diagonally: every row adds a tile at each edge until you reach the width and length, then decreases. The row-by-row list shows the colours of every row in working order.
How do I measure my C2C tile size?
Crochet a small square of 5 × 5 tiles in your yarn and hook, measure its width and divide by 5. Enter that as the tile size and the planner works out the rest.
