How to use the row counter
- Tap the big + after each row. The first counter is your main row counter.
- Add a pattern repeat counter for cables, lace or stripes. It moves with your rows and tells you which row of the repeat you are on.
- Add a stitch counter for counting across a long row or a cast-on. It counts on its own.
- Set a target in a counter's settings, such as 120 rows for a sleeve, to see how many are left.
Tips
- Count at the end of the row, before you turn your work, so you never wonder whether you already tapped.
- Use a new project for each piece (front, back, sleeves) so each keeps its own counts.
- Write down changes you make to the pattern in the project's notes, so the second sleeve matches the first.
Common questions
Does the row counter work offline?
Yes. Once you have opened it with a connection, it works without one, and your counts are saved on your device. On a phone, choose “Add to Home Screen” in your browser menu to open it like an app.
How do I count pattern repeats?
Add a “Pattern repeat” counter and set how many rows the repeat has (for example 8 for an 8-row cable). It moves with your row counter and shows “Row 3 of 8 · repeat 5”, so you always know where you are in the pattern.
Will my phone screen turn off while I knit?
Tap “Keep screen on” and it stays on while the counter is open. The button only appears on browsers that support it. Most recent phones do.
Can I use my keyboard?
Yes, on a computer: Space or + adds a row, − or Backspace takes one off, and Z undoes the last change.
I tapped too many times. How do I fix it?
Press Undo to step back through your last 50 changes, or open a counter’s settings and type in the right number.
