Knit Temperature Blanket, Row a Day
One stockinette row per day for a year, coloured by that day’s temperature. 365 rows at worsted gauge lands right at throw length.

- Yarn needed
- About 2,700 yd (2,450 m) in total. The planner splits it by colour using your town’s real temperatures.

Gauge swatch
Swatch in stockinette. The row gauge matters here: it sets how long the blanket ends up.
Instructions
Plan
Open the Temperature Blanket Planner. Choose your town, the year, Daily high (or average), Knitting, Worsted and Throw.
Pick 8–12 bands of about 5 °C / 10 °F each. Print the colour key and buy yarn from its per-colour amounts.
Border and set up
In a neutral border colour, cast on (example: 225 sts). Knit 8 rows.
Daily row
RS days: K3 in border colour, knit to last 3 sts in the day’s colour, k3 in border colour.
WS days: K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3 (same colours).
Border edges: use a separate small ball of border colour at each side (intarsia-style), twisting yarns at the colour change. Or work the whole row in the day’s colour and add an edging at the end.
Tick the day off in the planner’s tracker.
Finish
After day 365, knit 8 rows in the border colour and bind off.
Finishing
- Weave in ends every week so they don’t pile up.
- Block to even out colour changes.
Designer’s notes
- Behind on days? Knit them in batches from the tracker; the colours are already worked out.
- Leap year: 366 rows. The top border then starts on a RS row; keep it at 8 rows.
