Chevron Stripe Blanket
Classic zigzag stripes from one easy right-side row. Set your stitch count with the calculator and the peaks line up on their own.

- Worsted (4) in 3–5 colours.

Materials
- Worsted (4) yarn (see yarn needed)
- US 8 (5 mm) 32 in (80 cm) circular
- Tapestry needle
- Markers every repeat (optional but helpful)
Gauge swatch
Cast on 27 sts (2 repeats + 3) and work 16 rows. Measure the width at a straight point, not across a peak.
Instructions
Border
Cast on (example: 207 sts). Knit 6 rows.
Chevron
Row 1 (RS): K1, *k1, M1L, k4, s2kp, k4, M1R; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 2 (WS): K1, purl to last st, k1.
Each repeat makes 2 stitches and takes away 2, so the count never changes. Check it after the first few rows.
Change colour every 8 rows (or any stripe plan you like), always at the start of a RS row.
Work until the blanket measures about 59 in (150 cm) at a valley.
Border
Knit 5 rows. Bind off knitwise on the WS.
Finishing
- Weave in ends at the edges.
- Block by pinning each peak and valley so the zigzag is crisp.
Designer’s notes
- s2kp = slip 2 together knitwise, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over. It makes a clean centred valley.
- For deeper chevrons, change k4 to k6 on both sides: the multiple becomes 16 + 3.
