Seed Band Envelope Cushion
One long strip: rib, stockinette flap, seed stitch front, flap, rib. Fold it into an envelope and seam two sides.

- Worsted (4) wool or cotton blend.

- Fits a 16 in (40 cm) pad; the recipe works for any square or rectangular pad

- 18 sts and 24 rows = 4 in (10 cm) in stockinette

- About 520 yd (475 m) worsted.

Gauge swatch
Stockinette swatch with a seed stitch patch to check both lie flat together.
Instructions
Flap A
Cast on (example: 67). Rib: RS: k1, *p1, k1*. WS: p1, *k1, p1*. Work 1 in. Then stockinette to 9 in total.
Front
Every row: K1, *p1, k1; rep from * (seed stitch). Work 15 in (38 cm).
Flap B
Stockinette until this section is 10 in, then 1 in of rib as flap A. Bind off in rib.
Finishing
- Lay the strip RS up. Fold flap A over the front, then flap B over it so the flaps overlap by about 5 in.
- Seam both sides through all layers. Turn RS out and insert the pad through the envelope.
- Weave in ends.
Designer’s notes
- Knitting 1 in smaller than the pad makes it plump, not saggy.
- Swap the seed front for the basketweave from the Basketweave Crib Blanket (multiple 10 + 5).
